MultiCharts is a Windows trading interface program which connects to an external stock broker. Superior Stock Trading tools work on MultiCharts.
This section is a guide to salient MultiCharts features, and how to set MultiCharts to optimize minuting. The primary goal is clarity: for workspaces to show only what is helpful. To minute, MultiCharts must be responsive. Hence, a secondary goal is to minimize data pull, thereby lessening the likelihood of data drought.
MultiCharts Account
SST indicators are linked to your MultiCharts account. Find your account identifier via the About menu item on the Help menu. The Login designation, which begins with MC_, is your account identifier.
User ID is a computer-specific identifier.
Broker Connections
For stock trading, MultiCharts provides an interface to Interactive Brokers and TradeStation.
Interactive Brokers
MultiCharts connects to Interactive Brokers’ Gateway or Trader Workstation. The IB Gateway product is solely for connectivity between MultiCharts and Interactive Brokers. Trader Workstation is a trading program, so incurs additional overhead compared to Gateway.
TradeStation
MultiCharts interfaces with TradeStation’s Desktop program.
QuoteManager
Through its QuoteManager service, MultiCharts connects to the broker for a data feed and to submit orders. Crackers must be manually registered in QuoteManager to be known and traded in MultiCharts.
Run your broker’s platform program before launching MultiCharts. QuoteManager relies upon the broker program’s interface for its data feed.
Preferences
Below are suggested preferences.

Do not save real-time minute bars to the database. Otherwise, pull in data.

Sounds
Download sounds and customize MultiCharts (via Window sounds) to audibly confirm connectivity and trades.

Unification
MultiCharts offers a speaker-listener relationship among its applications. Selecting a symbol in a Watchlist acts as a transmitter to listening charts and DOM.
Create a unified workspace. With the instrument dropdown showing, left-click on the colored rectangle to the left of the symbol (instrument) to set linking.

The link menu rectangle changes to the link color.
Update Patch
MultiCharts Update Patch is suggested if you are having problems with the program, such as slow data pull.
